Course Overview

The main aim of the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 5 Certificate in Sports Massage is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide sports massage therapy treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the sports industry. This qualification is suitable for learners aged 18 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence at level 5. It also provides a sound platform into further training at level 5 and above. 

What You Will Learn?

The main skills the learner will perform are:
• Conducting complex assessment for sports massage – to include, understanding and undertaking assessment of sports specific posture and gait, conducting complex assessment methods for sports massage and devising sports massage treatment plans from the information gathered
• Providing complex massage techniques for sports massage – to include applying complex massage techniques and providing aftercare methods to complement the complex massage techniques
The learner will also learn about evidence-based practice and how to evaluate research undertaken on sports massage which is essential in order to work and be successful in the industry.

Duration: Part time – 5 months, Full time – 2 month

Mode of Delivery : Classroom & asynchronous elearning (Blended)

Asssessment/Exam : Theory + Practical + Case studies

Course completion Requirement is as follows:

International Students on Student-Pass > 90%

Local / PR & Non Student Pass Holders > 75%

Completion of level 4 diploma in sports massage  OR equivalent sports massage qualification.
