Module 1

Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to ensure elderly is well-looked after physically and mentally by understanding the ageing process, safety & hygiene (lifting & positioning, home safety, denture care, assisted bathing, foot/skin care). 

Module 2

Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to gain the necessary underpinning knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology required in the caregiving industry.  The main knowledge the Learner will develop is:

–             The anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body systems – to include the cell, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive system

Module 3

Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to provide comprehensive nursing care and management for the elderly.

Module 4

Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to gain the necessary underpinning knowledge in physical therapy covering both active and passive range of motion exercises.  The main knowledge the learner develop is:

1.           importance of range of motion exercises and proper positioning

2.           range of motion exercises (practical)

3.           use positioning skills to assist clients with limited mobility

Module 5

Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to gain the necessary underpinning knowledge in Geriatric Massage covering its effects and benefits. The main knowledge the Learner develop is the safe practice to perform a sequence of massage covering hands/arm, back and head/neck on the elderly (Theory and practical), taking in consideration endangerment sites, contraindications and physical state.

Program Objectives :

In the community care sector, you will assist people who require further care and treatment after being discharged from a general hospital, and seniors living in the community who may be frail and need help with their activities of daily living. You will also work alongside caregivers and support them as they care for their loved ones.
A career in community care is a truly fulfilling one. You will get to build long-lasting relationships with your patients as you support them through their recovery journey.

The community care sector provides a continuum of integrative care for our loved ones. This helps our seniors to live well and age gracefully in the community and at home.
